What you are suggesting is a bad scenario, and truly alarming.

What you need at the earliest,

    Log into
    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx,

Download the online scanner and scan and clean the system.

    Uninstall your Antivirus,
Click Start--control panel--add/remove program--Avast--Uninstall, and remove the antivirus.

Install the antivirus again from your source or downloading from the net,
Keep the virus definition up to date to protect the system.

    Try them.

    Hello Friend

1.Open the computer in the safe mode.

2.And the you have to check out the Avasta will be installed by going to control panel and select the add or remove option.

Re: Unable to detect virus by Avast antivirus in Windows XP

    Hi Friend,

This can be due the reasons listed below-

May be your antivirus is expired make sure you update
it regularly. If its a trial version then download a full version.
Because trial versions are only demo and does not give full
protection. When their trial period expires they stop working.

You can buy it or you can try other free antiviruses like AVG.
It is a good antivirus and effective upon viruses.
You can also register your Avast and update it.

Secondly, It might be that your antivirus too is affected by
viruses and is not working properly.
Try uninstalling and then reinstalling it again.

    Hope it will help !

    Thank you!!!

I think that your antivirus may not be updated or it is expired.you can purchase best antivirus like Norton 360, AVG INTERNET SECURITY 2013 OR QUICK HEAL.
install it and you see that you are protected from viruses.
